As a believer in Jesus, you have received a great gift! You have been permanently united to Jesus! You are in Christ and Christ is in you!
To help you grow in your awareness of this union, you are invited to spend a specific, and increasing, amount of time in silent contemplation each day over the next 8 weeks where you create a space of quiet where God can act. You are asked to observe this time of contemplation at least 5 of the 7 days of each week.
To help you grow in your understanding of your union with Jesus, you are encouraged to read a few passages from scripture as well as from Andrew Murray’s book, Abide in Christ. The book was written over 100 years ago, so the language may sound dated. But hopefully these small excerpts can help to create a quiet space where you can enjoy your union with Christ. You may read as many or as few excerpts as you wish before you spend time in contemplation.
Instructions are included on each of the website pages associated with each of the 8 weeks, including the amount of time you are requested to spend in contemplation.
One other important requirement - you must do these exercises in partnership with someone else. Evidence has shown that accountability is vital if we want to experience the benefits offered through this process. Ask someone, a good friend or a church leader, to require weekly reports on your progress. Send them a note at the end of each week. Let them know how often you observed the times of silence, and how many texts and quotes you were able to read.
One note - if you find that your anxiety is growing unbearable, please call a doctor or therapist. This exercise is not intended to be a solution for all anxiety or for every person. God gives strength and healing in many ways, with this process perhaps being one.
May God bless this season of contemplation on the mysterious, miraculous union that Jesus and you enjoy.
